Just East of Little Creek and a stone’s throw from Chick’s Beach is a sweet little brewery called Commonwealth. Family run, a laidback inviting atmosphere, dog friendly, and close to the beach, Commonwealth is a great stop if looking for good people and good beer on a sunny day. With ample outside (and inside) seating and Food Trucks scheduled everyday, plan on spending a couple of hours kicked back and sampling any number of the outstanding beers they brew. If you’re lucky, there might even be a little live music playing inside or out on the patio.

Commonwealth offers a broad range of brews, all extremely drinkable so you’re bound to find something you like. The Commonwealth specialty, appears to be IPA’s and DIPA’s and you’ll find a very good selection, well hopped, in various American styles. They also do a great job with Farm House Ales (Saison) and brew some killer seasonal Porters and Stouts. The “Big Papi”, a New England style DIPA was outstanding, as was the “Green Ghost” (DIPA). If you’re looking for a good Pilsner, try the “Aureole”, smooth, drinkable and a great choice if you’re powering down a sandwich from one of the Food Trucks.

Commonwealth opened in 2015 and while you can now find some of their beers at bars throughout the area and into neighboring States, they’ve stayed true to the craft traditions and still operate as if they just opened their doors this year. Truly one of the better Craft Breweries in the region and worth a visit every time you’re in town. Located on “Pleasure House Road”, I guess we should’ve expected a pleasurable experience.
